TEXT: EXODUS 11:1-10
MEMORY VERSE: “Moses concluded by saying, ‘All your officials will come to me and bow down before me, and they will beg me to take all my people and go away…’” Exodus 11:8 GNB
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
Egypt had done their worst on the children of Israel. God on His part had severally demonstrated His superiority over pharaoh and his magicians. But they would not let Israel go. Finally, God decided to strike Pharaoh and the land of Egypt with one more unbearable blow. The angel of death will walk through the land in one night. The result will be uncommon death of every firstborn male in the land. What an agonizing tragedy?
The previous nine plagues had already dealt destabilizing shocks on the Egyptians. With the peoples’ spirit already broken, this last disaster would bring them to their knees. They would then realize that their only relief was to rid Egyptof every Hebrew citizen.
What a mighty God we serve. Little wonder Philippians 4:6-8 warns that we should be careful for nothing, but rather pray about every challenge of life. It then becomes advisable to always commune with God in prayer, making known our needs to Him. Then in anticipation of His positive response, appreciate Him in praise and thanksgiving. Our God is greater than all enemies, all witches, and all woes of this life, put together. So, no weapon formed against you willprosper; no tongue that rises against you in judgment shall prevail (Isaiah 54:15-17).
Surely, they shall gather. But the mighty Hand of God shall bring them down to the pit of destruction. Only watch and pray. At His own appointed time, you shall surely celebrate, like the Children of Israel.
- Some trust in chariots; some in horses, but we will always remember the Lord our God. Does this statement relate in any way to our today’s write-up – with regards to your personal challenges?
- Lord God Almighty, Thou who gave King David victory over all his enemies, do same for me.
