MTN Nigeria has temporarily suspended its airtime and data credit advance service, widely known as “Xtratime,” following the introduction of new lending regulations.
The telecom operator disclosed the development in a corporate notice submitted to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Thursday.
Xtratime, which enables subscribers to borrow airtime or data and repay on their next recharge, has long served as a financial cushion for millions of Nigerians during periods of cash shortage.
