Former Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Chijioke Ihunwo, has disclosed that former Chief of Staff to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Edison Ehie, has joined the Rainbow Coalition in line with the governor’s directive.
Speaking during a radio interview in which he announced his own decision to join the coalition, Ihunwo said several other loyalists of the governor had also aligned with the political movement.
According to him, those who have joined the coalition include lawmaker Victor Oko-Jumbo, former Obio/Akpor Chairman Ichemati Ezebunwo, and other supporters of Governor Fubara.
Ihunwo said he could not claim to be loyal to Governor Fubara, whom he described as his principal, while acting contrary to the governor’s directive.
He also dismissed allegations by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, that those around Governor Fubara misled him into confronting the political structure that brought him to power.
According to Ihunwo, he did not deceive the governor or encourage him to fight anyone.
Wike had, during a media chat in Port Harcourt over the weekend, alleged that Governor Fubara was influenced by some of his supporters, whom he claimed did not contribute to his emergence as governor.
