The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, says 32 cases of the delta Covid-19 variant have so far been reported in five states.
Director General of the commission, Chikwe Ihekweazu, disclosed this at the ministerial briefing on covid-19 in Abuja.
He said Akwa Ibom state, leads with 19 cases while the other 13 cases were recorded in four different states.
He stated that the commission is doing everything possible to curb the spread of the deadly virus.
Chikwe said the figures recorded “must serve as a strong warning to be even more on our guard regarding reducing the risk of COVID-19 spread, especially considering the more transmissible Delta variants detected in the country.
The delta variant is recognized by the World Health Organization, as a variant of concern given its increased transmissibility.
