The Federal High Court in Abuja has admitted the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and publisher, Omoyele Sowore, to bail in the sum of ₦200 million over alleged cybercrime charges.
Delivering the ruling on Tuesday, Justice Mohammed Umar directed Sowore to provide two sureties, one of whom must be a traditional ruler from his community, while the other must own landed property in Abuja. The court also ordered the prosecution to verify the sureties.
The judge further directed Sowore to surrender his international passport to the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court pending the conclusion of the trial. He was subsequently released to his legal team, while the matter was adjourned to Monday, July 6, for the commencement of the defence.
