Rivers United Football Club has announced that the first 50 fans to arrive at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Sunday will receive free replica jerseys.
The gesture is part of the club’s efforts to mobilise strong support for its CAF Champions League second-leg first-round clash against San Pedro of Côte d’Ivoire.
The match is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2026, with Rivers United once again adopting the CAF-approved Godswill Akpabio International Stadium as its home venue for continental fixtures.
The Pride of Rivers secured a valuable 1-1 draw in the first leg in Côte d’Ivoire and will be seeking victory in Uyo to advance to the next round of the competition.
The club’s Sole Administrator, Barrister Christopher Green, announced the jersey giveaway during a courtesy visit to the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey.
Green urged football enthusiasts across Akwa Ibom State to come out in large numbers and support the team.
“As a club, we will give away fifty Rivers United replica jerseys to the first fifty fans who come to the stadium on Sunday to support us,” he said.
The club said the initiative is aimed at encouraging early attendance, filling the stands and creating a vibrant atmosphere as Rivers United fight to progress further in the CAF Champions League and sustain Nigeria’s representation in continental football.
