The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has sanctioned 44 corps members who served in Rivers State over various offences committed during their service year.
The disciplinary measures were announced during the 2025 Batch B Stream I low-key Passing-Out Parade (POP) held on Thursday at Isaac Boro Park in Port Harcourt.
According to the NYSC, nine corps members—comprising seven males and two females—will repeat the entire service year, while 35 others, made up of 21 males and 14 females, were handed extensions of service.
Addressing the outgoing corps members, the Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, urged those who successfully completed the programme to remain committed to the core values of the scheme as they move into the next phase of their lives.
He encouraged them to uphold the principles of patriotism, discipline, honesty, integrity, commitment and dedication to duty, stressing that these virtues are essential for building successful careers and contributing meaningfully to national development.
Oleghe also disclosed that the service year recorded no fatalities, describing it as a significant achievement.
