Former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has described saturday’s Governorship and State House of Assembly elections as a sham, and a failure on the part of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Speaking, on Arise News Amaechi said he opposed the appointment of Mahmood Yakubu because he knew he lacked the capacity to conduct credible elections.
According to him, in Rivers state the electoral umpire and security agencies rigged the elections in favor of the PDP.
He alleged that the APC Collation Officer of Obio/Akpor LGA, was arrested before the collation of results and is still in detention, adding that the LGA is were elections are rigged
He also said House of Assembly candidates of the party, Charles Anyanwu(Etche) and Emeka Eddeh(PHALGA) were arrested a day to the elections by security operatives on the orders of Governor, Nyesom Wike.
The former governor also revealed that voters were flogged across the state for voting against the PDP, with ballot papers of opposition parties destroyed.
