The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that it is not contesting the 2027 general elections merely to participate, but to secure victory and reshape governance in Rivers State.
The newly elected Rivers State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Chukwudi Dimpa, made this known in a statement, emphasizing that the party’s core focus is on ordinary citizens, whom he described as its major selling point.
Dimpa said the ADC is positioning itself as a credible alternative for residents seeking relief from hardship and economic challenges, which he attributed to the current administration led by the All Progressives Congress.
According to him, the party’s strategy is “clear and deliberate,” with a strong emphasis on grassroots rebuilding and inclusiveness.
“Politics in Rivers State has for too long been driven from the top down. Under this leadership, we intend to reverse that by empowering the wards, strengthening the local government areas, and ensuring that the ordinary party member has a voice and a stake in the process,” he said.
Dimkpa added that the ADC is promoting a message centred on hope, competence, and development, with a governance agenda focused on infrastructure, job creation, security, and human capital development.
He maintained that the party aims to offer Rivers people “an escape route” from what he described as poor governance, insisting that the ADC is prepared to win elections and deliver people-oriented leadership in the state.
