A woman identified as Cynthia Chikanma has allegedly set her boyfriend and his apartment ablaze in Choba, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, following a dispute reportedly linked to their relationship.
The incident, which has sparked outrage online, was made public through a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by a user identified as @ChuksEricE.
A video attached to the post showed the charred remains of the victim’s room, with ashes scattered across the bed and walls. The narrator claimed the man was burnt to death after his girlfriend locked him inside the apartment and set it on fire.
In the background of the footage, a woman is heard expressing shock, saying, “Relationship no be by force o, marriage no be by force o. See wetin one nonsense girl do e boyfriend, she burn the boyfriend to ashes.”
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
