The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has threatened to acquire a disputed land between Bomu and Lewe communities in Ogoni if they fail to end communal crises that has claimed so many lives.
Gov. Wike disclosed this during the flag off of the reconstruction of Government Secondary School, Kpor in Gokana Local Government Area on Wednesday.
He said if the both communities fail to end the war after a meeting with them, the sate government would be forced to takeover the land.
Wike, who described the crises as regrettable and saddening, said after the killing of prominent Ogoni leaders some years back, the Ogoni people should have learnt to live in peace.
“Prominent people in Ogoni have died. The few remaining you want to still kill them. I will meet with the people of Bomu and Lewe. If you don’t agree, I will acquire the land. But I will give you the opportunity first and if you don’t agree, I will come and take the land and build what I want to build,” he said.
“If I were you people, what had happened to Ogoni should have made everybody to be together, to forget about killing one another again. Are you not tired of killing yourselves?” he added.
