The Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University, Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi, has been honoured as a “Global Diplomat” by the United World Congress of Diplomats.
He was also presented with an Award for Diplomatic Outstanding Performance for his contributions to education, leadership and humanity.
The award was presented on Thursday, September 10, 2026, by the African Regional President of the Global Young Diplomats Forum, Amb. Dr Ifeanyi Pius Nwaefuna, at the Vice-Chancellor’s office.
Nwaefuna said the recognition was to honour African leaders whose leadership and service have positively impacted their institutions and communities.
“The Vice-Chancellor’s dedication and commitment to his responsibilities as the head of Rivers State University cannot go unnoticed. Today, RSU is on the global map because of visionary leadership, academic excellence and service to humanity,” he said.
As part of the recognition, Zeb-Obipi received an award and certificate, International Diplomatic Passport, GYDF muffler and diplomatic vehicle plate number.
He was also invited to serve as keynote speaker at the forthcoming “African Achievers of the World” programme.
The organisers further recommended him for integration into the African School of Diplomats to support the training of future diplomats and leaders.
Reacting, Professor Zeb-Obipi described the honour as a call to greater service.
“This award is not for me alone. It is for the entire Rivers State University community: our staff, students and stakeholders; who work tirelessly every day. We will continue to build bridges, promote scholarship and raise leaders who will serve humanity,” he said.
