The Surveillance Security Team of Bonny Local Government Area, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police, Bonny Division, has arrested a prime suspect in connection with the death of Miss Queeneth Pepple.
The suspect, identified as Princewill Pepple, was arrested on Friday following preliminary investigations into the incident which occurred along Water Well Road, Bonny.
According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Bonny Local Government Council, Amb. Wisdom Chapp-Jumbo, preliminary findings also indicate that the suspect may be linked to other alleged criminal activities, including rape cases within the Water Well Community.
The Council Chairman, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, has directed the police to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that the suspect is prosecuted.
The Chairman has also announced a ₦1 million reward for credible information leading to the arrest of Ernest Hart, another suspect allegedly connected to the case, or any other person linked to the incident.
He assured the family of the deceased and residents that the council would work with security agencies to identify and apprehend all those connected to the matter and ensure they face the law.
The Chairman condemned the incident, stressing that his administration would not tolerate acts capable of threatening the peace and security of Bonny.
He also commended the police for their swift response and urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information.
The council said investigations into the matter are ongoing.
