The Rivers State Police Command, has confirmed the abduction of a lecturer, Dr. Jones Ajuwu with the Linguistics and Communications Department of the University of Port Harcourt, by unknown gunmen.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni who disclosed this in a statement today, said he was yet to get the full details of the incident.
The lecturer was abducted at gunpoint in Bori while returning from an event on Sunday evening.
Some persons who were with Dr. Jones, when he was abducted, in a chat with Journalists said they were also kidnapped but were later dropped off after they were robbed of their valuables.
They noted that the incident was reported to the Bori Division of the Nigerian Police.
Meanwhile stakeholder have condemned the incident, while calling on the Police to ensure the unconditional release of the lecturer.
