The United Kingdom has deported 43 Nigerians in a renewed effort to enforce stricter immigration controls, according to a statement released Friday on the government’s official website, gov.uk.
The group included 15 individuals whose asylum applications had been rejected, as well as 11 foreign nationals who had completed prison sentences. An additional seven people returned to Nigeria voluntarily under the same operation.
The deportation is part of the UK government’s broader “Plan for Change” strategy, which seeks to strengthen the immigration system by promptly removing individuals who have no legal right to stay in the country.
