Billionaire businessman and investor Tony Elumelu has announced that he will succeed Udo Udoma as Chairman of the Board of Seplat Energy in January 2027.
Elumelu who made the announcement in a statement today, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the company into its next phase of growth, emphasizing the importance of indigenous resources in driving economic transformation across Nigeria and Africa.
“I am honoured to succeed Senator Udoma as Chairman in January 2027 and to lead the Board through Seplat’s next phase of growth. I firmly believe in the critical role indigenous resources play in the economic transformation of Nigeria and Africa, and Seplat’s culture of execution and governance aligns strongly with my own values,” he said.
The businessman also paid tribute to the outgoing leadership, thanking Senator Udoma and Roger Brown for their stewardship of the company.
“I thank Senator Udoma and Roger for their stewardship and look forward to delivering further value for shareholders,” Elumelu added.
He further congratulated Samuel Okon on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer, expressing confidence in the company’s future under his leadership.
“I also congratulate Mr. Okon on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer. His deep industry experience gives me great confidence that Seplat is well positioned for its next chapter of growth,” Elumelu stated.
His appointment comes as Seplat prepares for a leadership transition aimed at strengthening the company’s growth strategy and enhancing shareholder value.
