President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election, describing the outcome as a clear endorsement of his administration’s performance.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully and orderly during the election while expressing appreciation for their continued trust in Governor Oyebanji.
The President also praised security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain efforts toward conducting peaceful, free, fair, and credible elections ahead of the Osun governorship election in August and the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu noted that with the victory, Oyebanji has become the first governor in the history of Ekiti State to secure back-to-back re-election victories.
According to the President, the governor’s first term recorded notable achievements in infrastructure development, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare, and rural development under the BAO agenda. He described the renewed mandate as a strong vote of confidence in continuity, stability, and people-centred governance.
Tinubu urged the governor to remain magnanimous in victory and ensure that all residents of Ekiti State are carried along as he consolidates on the gains of his administration over the next four years.
The President also commended other candidates who participated in the election, noting that they had exercised their democratic rights. He called on them to support the governor in advancing the development of the state.
Tinubu further reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to collaborating with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more democratic dividends and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.
