The candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in Saturday’s Rivers East Senatorial by-election, Hon. Douglas Fabeke, has rejected the outcome of the poll and vowed to challenge the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Sen. Olaka Nwogu, in court.
Fabeke made his position known shortly after the declaration of the election results, insisting that the winner should not celebrate yet as the legal battle over the election outcome was just beginning.
According to him, the election was marred by widespread irregularities allegedly orchestrated by the PDP. He claimed to possess sufficient evidence to overturn the results through the judicial process.
The AA candidate further stated that satellite technology was deployed to monitor areas where the alleged irregularities occurred, adding that the court challenge would be a lengthy legal process.
Fabeke also denied reports suggesting that he had entered into any coalition arrangement with another political group or candidate.
“I remain the candidate of the Action Alliance and have not been informed of any coalition whatsoever,” he said.
He maintained that his party would pursue all available legal options to contest the election result.
