The Young Progressives party in Rivers State, has reacted to the outcome of Saturday’s local government elections, stating that the party with the highest number of supporters won.
Chairman of YPP in the state, Hon. Amangima Harry made this known during a press briefing in Port Harcourt, on Monday.
He said the outcome of last Saturday’s election is a welcome development geared towards moving the state forward.
Hon. Harry said they are thankful that the poll did not turn violent, as it would have led to loss of lives and destruction of properties.
He called on aggrieved political parties to seek redress in court, as protests does not alter election results.
“I appeal to our colleagues, brothers and sisters to accept the outcome of the elections in good fate as a demonstration of true brothers paternalistic for the good of the state,” he said.
He furthermore, appealed to winners of the election to keep to their campaign promises, and deliver the dividends of democracy to Rivers people.
