The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has denied reports claiming that the party has adopted a governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chizy Enyi, described the reports circulating on social media as false and misleading, stressing that the party has not endorsed any aspirant for the governorship position.
Enyi stated that the Rivers State chapter of the ADC currently has seven aspirants who have indicated interest in contesting for the party’s governorship ticket.
He said the party remains committed to conducting a transparent, fair, credible and inclusive process in line with the party’s constitution and democratic principles.
The statement urged stakeholders, party members and the public to disregard any publication suggesting that the ADC had concluded its internal processes or adopted any aspirant ahead of the primaries.
According to him, the party remains focused on strengthening its structures and ensuring a level playing field for all aspirants.
Enyi also advised supporters and members of the public to rely only on official communications from the party regarding its activities and decisions.
