SAAKPENWA—The Executive Chairman of Tai Local Government Area, Hon. Matthew NenuBari Dike, has announced plans to empower 200 farmers in the region as part of efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and improve food security.
Addressing members of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the council’s secretariat in Saakpenwa, Hon. Dike revealed that the council had procured essential farm implements, including fertilizers, knapsack sprayers, herbicides, and wheelbarrows, which would be distributed to farmers next week.
He urged the farmers to adopt innovative farming practices and form cooperative societies to ensure sustainability and faster growth. According to him, financial support and the provision of farming tools would help improve the living conditions of residents and drive food sufficiency in Tai and the wider Rivers State.
He also advised farmers to purchase new seeds and cuttings from certified companies to prevent pest infestations and achieve better yields.
