The Executive Chairman of Tai Local Government Area, Hon. Matthew NenuBari Dike, has announced plans to collaborate with the Rivers State Ministry of Health and other relevant agencies to enhance the availability of quality drugs and healthcare services across the LGA.
Dike made this known at the council secretariat in Saakpenwa during a meeting with a team of senior medical experts supervising 150 final-year medical students from the University of Port Harcourt. The students are undertaking a one-month rural medical training program aimed at providing free healthcare services to residents of Tai.
The council chairman assured the medical team of the council’s full support for the initiative and other health development programs. He highlighted ongoing efforts by his administration, including the enrollment of 5,000 residents in a contributory health insurance scheme, the provision of two ambulances for emergency medical response in rural areas, and the construction of a state-of-the-art healthcare complex at the council secretariat.
Dike urged the medical experts and students to use their time in Tai to conduct meaningful research and provide valuable health insights to inform future healthcare policies.
