The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Rivers State.
In a press release issued on May 5, 2026, the Commission disclosed that the exercise will begin on Monday, May 11, 2026, and will run daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at all INEC offices across the 23 local government areas of the state.
INEC further stated that the registration will also be extended to Registration Area (RA) and ward levels on a rotational basis to ensure wider access for residents.
According to the Commission, the exercise is scheduled to end on July 10, 2026, and is designed to provide an opportunity for eligible citizens who have yet to register, as well as those seeking to transfer or update their voter information.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem, called on all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organisations, the media, and the general public, to support the process to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral exercise.
