The Senate has approved the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) budget proposal of ₦2.2 trillion, with about 76 per cent of the total allocation — estimated at ₦1.7 trillion — dedicated to capital expenditure.
The appropriation bill was passed during Thursday’s plenary after the Senate considered and adopted the report presented by the Committee on the FCT regarding the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
While the budget enjoyed overwhelming support from lawmakers, some senators expressed reservations over the revenue projections and funding structure used in preparing the budget.
