The Rivers State House of Assembly has passed a law criminalizing non wearing of face masks in public places.
The assembly passed the law today, following a motion moved by Sam Ogeh, member representing Emohua State Constituency.
Ogeh who complained of the refusal of residents to put on masks, said the COVID-19 pandemic is being undermined in the state.
Speaker of the House, Ikuinyi Owaji Igbani, called on the executive to ensure the enforcement of all COVID-19 protocols.
“The enforcement of the wearing of face masks in public places in the state must be sustained and implemented as passed by the House,” he said.
