The Rivers State Ministry of Education has released the official academic calendar for the 2026/2027 school session for nursery, primary, junior secondary and senior secondary schools across the state.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Mina Ikuru said the first term will commence on Monday, September 7, 2026, and end on Friday, December 11, 2026. The term will include a mid-term break from October 23 to 26.
The second term is scheduled to run from January 4 to March 25, 2027, while the third term will begin on April 19 and end on July 16, 2027.
The approved calendar provides for a total of 39 instructional weeks for the academic session.
The Ministry directed all schools across the state to strictly adhere to the approved dates.
The release is expected to enable parents, teachers and school authorities to make adequate preparations and plan effectively for the 2026/2027 academic session.
