Port Harcourt — In response to the recent outbreak of anthrax in Zamfara State and other parts of the country, the Rivers State Government has launched a comprehensive vaccination campaign for all livestock in the state.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara approved the initiative as a preventive measure to safeguard public health and food security. The state’s Commissioner for Agriculture, Engr. Victor Kii, announced the development, emphasizing the government’s commitment to protecting the state’s borders from the spread of the disease.
Kii stated that the vaccination exercise aligns with Governor Fubara’s policy on food safety and aims to prevent any potential anthrax outbreak in Rivers State. Authorities have urged livestock owners to cooperate with vaccination teams to ensure the success of the campaign.
