The Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo-led Rivers State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Affairs has commenced its oversight functions with visits to Andoni and Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Areas. The assessment is aimed at evaluating developmental projects executed by the council chairmen.
Leading the delegation, Deputy Speaker and Committee Chairman Rt. Hon. Adolphus Timothy Orubienimigha stated that the tour seeks to assess efforts in key sectors, including education, healthcare, economic empowerment, security, and grassroots engagement. The committee also aims to evaluate accountability and transparency in the use of council funds.
The Leader of the House, Hon. Sokari Goodboy Sokari, urged council chairmen to prudently manage their allocations to benefit residents. He called on them to align with the state’s development agenda under Governor Amaopusenibo Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, and replicate state-level initiatives at the grassroots.
The oversight tour continues across the state’s 23 local government areas.
