The Rivers State Police Command has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident which reportedly claimed the lives of three children from the same family in the state.
In a press release issued by the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and described the incident as painful and unfortunate.
The Command noted that the development has generated widespread grief and concern across Rivers State, assuring the public that a thorough investigation has already commenced to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
This comes after the mother of the deceased children appealed for justice following the tragic death of her three children in an alleged accident involving a driver said to have been teaching his girlfriend how to drive.
Reports circulating online claim the children, aged 10, 4, and 3, lost their lives after they were allegedly hit by the vehicle during the driving lesson.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police assured the affected family and residents that every necessary step would be taken to ensure justice is served in accordance with the law.
The Police further stated that anyone found culpable after investigations would be brought to justice, while urging members of the public to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and cooperate with investigators handling the case.
The Command reiterated its commitment to the protection of lives and property as well as the pursuit of justice for victims of crime.
