The Rivers State Local Government Service Commission has constituted a special committee to review complaints from workers affected by the recent exercise conducted across the state’s 23 Local Government Areas.
The committee is headed by the Head of Service, Dr Inyigi Brown, represented by Dr Itong Awani, while Dr Ubani George serves as Secretary.
Its membership includes Dr Owara Nuka, Dr Josephine Chukuigwe, Sammy Apiafi, Port Harcourt City Mayor, Allwell Ihunda, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), representatives of Cinfores Limited, Samuel Ekpolo of the Department of State Services, and the State Commissioner of Police.
Chairman of the Commission, Israel Amadi, said the committee has one month to conclude its assignment.
Amadi expressed confidence in the committee, noting that its members possess the experience and expertise required to properly examine the complaints.
Speaking on behalf of the committee chairman, Dr Itong Awani assured affected workers that their grievances would receive due consideration.
She pledged that the committee would work to ensure that the complaints are addressed fairly and appropriately.
