The Rivers State Ministry of Education has announced plans to conduct a whole-school and follow-through evaluation of public and private schools across the state for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The exercise, to be carried out by the State Education Quality Assurance Services (SEQAS) in collaboration with the Task Force on Closure of Schools, will assess the overall effectiveness and quality of schools.
According to a public interest notice signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mina Tele Ikuru, the evaluation will focus on learner outcomes, quality of educational provision, leadership and management, annual renewal of registration payments, and the overall effectiveness of schools.
The Ministry directed all public and private schools to grant evaluators access to their premises, warning that penalties would be imposed on schools that deny evaluators access.
The notice advised schools seeking further information to contact the Director of SEQAS, Dr. Chinedu Wordu, at the Rivers State Ministry of Education, Government Girls Secondary School, Rumuokwuta.
