The Chairmanship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), in the just concluded Local government election in Obio/Akpor, Rivers State, Hon. Ejekwu Darlington has vowed to challenge the outcome of the election in court.
Hon. Ejekwu who disclosed this while reacting to the swearing in of the newly elected LGA chairmen by Governor Nyesom Wike on Thursday, said he would surely get Justice.
The AAC candidate, who described the event as a joke, accused the State Electoral Umpire of rigging the election in favor of the ruling People’s Democratic Party.
He said election did not hold in the area as claimed by the PDP and RSIEC, and that he could not cast his vote.
“Even as a candidate, I couldn’t vote because there were no materials. I called our councillorship candidates and agents across the 17 wards and the story was the same,” he said.
“I am calling on the good people of Obio/Akpor LGA and the general public to disregard the purported swearing in of Obio/Akpor executives today. It was a mere jamboree as there was no election anywhere in the local government during the April 17 election RSIEC claimed it conducted, Ejekwu added.
