The chairmen of the 23 local government councils in Rivers State on Monday declared their unwavering support for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing his transformation of Abuja as unprecedented.
The council chairmen, who visited the FCT as part of a solidarity mission, also threw their weight behind President Bola Tinubu, expressing confidence that the President would secure a second term in the 2027 general election.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Rivers State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Sir Allwell Ihunda, who is also the Executive Chairman of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (PHALGA), said the projects being executed and commissioned across the FCT have changed the face of the nation’s capital and demonstrated Wike’s leadership capacity.
He described the former Rivers State governor as a visionary leader whose performance in Abuja has made the people of Rivers proud.
“We are here today in solidarity with our leader, the Honourable Minister of the FCT, His Excellency Chief Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike. We are indeed very happy and proud that a son of Rivers State has decided to change the landscape of the Federal Capital Territory,” he said.
