Former allies of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara have joined the Wike-backed Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Martin Wachuku, media aide to the Speaker, said the group, comprising members of the defunct Simplified Movement from the Evo axis, made the move on Tuesday when they paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, to reaffirm their loyalty to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and Political Leader of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike.
Leading the delegation, former Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Hon. Solomon Abel Eke, said the visit was to formally return to the political family and declare their readiness to work with the Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.
Eke said the group was prepared to work with other members of the coalition towards the forthcoming elections.
Receiving the delegation, Amaewhule said political stakeholders needed to work together in the interest of Rivers State.
The Speaker said Wike had opened the door for reconciliation and called on those who had previously moved away from the political family to return.
Amaewhule urged the returnees to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rep. O.K. Chinda and other candidates associated with the Rainbow Coalition in the state.
