Former Rivers State lawmaker and politician, Dr Sokonte Davies, has visited the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, amid indications of a possible political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
Davies, who was an aspirant in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship primary in Rivers State, visited Wike at his residence on Tuesday, where he was seen in a photograph with the FCT Minister and other members of the Rainbow Coalition.
Davies’ visit comes weeks after he resigned his membership of the ADC, citing concerns over the party’s direction, internal processes and broader political trajectory.
He had earlier contested the ADC governorship primary and emerged as one of the leading aspirants. Reports of the primary, however, differed over the outcome, with competing party factions announcing different results.
Davies had previously been associated with former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and was regarded as one of his political allies.
Although no official statement had been issued by Davies or the coalition regarding Tuesday’s visit at the time of filing this report, the development has triggered speculation about his next political move.
Political observers said the meeting could signal Davies’ decision to align with the Rainbow Coalition, although this remains unconfirmed pending an official statement from the former lawmaker or the coalition.
