The Rivers State Government has rewarded 10 indigenes who received the prestigious National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Presidential Honours Award with a total cash reward of ₦20 million.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara announced the reward through the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Dagogo Wokoma, during a ceremony held in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
The governor congratulated the award recipients, describing them as worthy ambassadors whose outstanding service during their NYSC year brought honour and pride to Rivers State.
He said the gesture reflects his administration’s commitment to human capital development and the promotion of excellence across all sectors.
Governor Fubara commended the awardees for their dedication, discipline and selfless service to national development, assuring that the state government would continue to recognise and reward exceptional achievements by young people in the state.
Speaking at the event, the Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, thanked the governor for the cash reward and reaffirmed the scheme’s commitment to partnering with the state in producing graduates who will contribute meaningfully to national development.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Gideon Nwaokugha expressed appreciation to Governor Fubara for the recognition and support, pledging that the awardees would continue to uphold the values of excellence and remain worthy ambassadors of Rivers State.
The beneficiaries are Nwile Promise, Nwakoo Bariagara, Chika Michelle, Samyaaloh Lekia, Chuku Diana, Okulu Sarah, Nwaubochi Godswill, Wori Precious, Paola Bob-Yellowe and Gideon Nwaokugha.
