The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has issued the Federal Government a fresh four-week ultimatum to address its outstanding demands or risk a nationwide strike.
The decision was reached at the association’s Extraordinary National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, held virtually on Saturday to assess the government’s response to an earlier 21-day ultimatum.
In a statement jointly signed by NARD President, Dr. Mohammad Usman Suleiman; Secretary-General, Dr. Shuaibu Ibrahim; and Publicity and Social Secretary, Dr. Abdulmajid Yahya Ibrahim, the association expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s response so far.
The resident doctors warned that failure to meet their demands within the next four weeks could leave them with no option but to embark on a nationwide industrial action.
