The Rivers State Police Command has announced that expired explosive materials belonging to Halliburton Energy Services Nigeria Limited will be destroyed in a controlled exercise scheduled to take place from Wednesday, July 8 to Friday, July 10, 2026.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, the explosives have been examined by relevant experts and confirmed to have expired. Approval was subsequently granted for their safe disposal.

The destruction exercise will be conducted by operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit of the Rivers State Police Command at Kporghor Community in Tai Local Government Area.

The command urged residents of Kporghor Community and the general public not to panic if they hear loud explosions during the period, explaining that the sounds will result from the controlled disposal operation.

Police assured residents that all necessary safety measures have been put in place to ensure the exercise is carried out without danger to lives or property.
