Popular Catholic cleric, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has alleged that the reported abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State is part of a wider political agenda aimed at creating panic and undermining the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during a recent sermon, the outspoken priest urged Nigerians not to be deceived by those he claimed were working to destabilise the country, drawing parallels with events that preceded the end of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
“Let Nigerians not be deceived. That was what they did to Jonathan,” Mbaka said.
The cleric described the alleged kidnapping as a “satanic political agenda” designed to create fear among citizens and erode confidence in the government.
“It’s a satanic political agenda. Putting panic in the country so that people will say ‘President should go’. Then, if this one goes, who else will come and they will support him?” he stated.
Questioning the circumstances surrounding the incident, Mbaka wondered why the abducted children had not been immediately located.
“They carried little children and took them into the bush. That bush, where is it? Is it not in Nigeria?” he asked.
The priest also called on Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to deploy available resources to track down the perpetrators and secure the children’s release.
He urged the governor to “take the phone” and “trace where they are.”
Mbaka further offered prayers against those behind acts of terrorism and insecurity in the country, declaring that “it shall not be well” with individuals sponsoring or carrying out such activities in Nigeria.
