The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the just-concluded Osun State election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has urged party members and supporters to remain calm and peaceful following the election.
Oyebamiji, while thanking APC leaders, members, supporters and voters for their commitment to his campaign, said although the party had hoped for a different outcome, he respected the position of the electoral umpire.
He also expressed support for the APC’s ongoing review of the election results, saying the values and development agenda promoted during the campaign remained relevant to the people of Osun.
The APC candidate urged his supporters to remain engaged and continue working for effective, inclusive and rapid development across the state.
However, Oyebamiji raised concerns over alleged attacks and growing hostility against APC members and supporters, warning that the situation had worsened in the last 24 hours.
He called on the Osun State Government, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to intervene immediately and halt what he described as an “ugly trend” of violence.
Oyebamiji said he remained proud of the campaign and grateful to those who entrusted him with their support, while urging all party members to remain vigilant and peaceful in the post-election period.
“Once again, I thank every voter, supporter, party member and leader for your unwavering commitment, sacrifice, and support,” he said.
“God bless you all. God bless Osun State. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
