Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says the people of Ogoni in Rivers State will reward President Bola Tinubu with their votes in 2027 for establishing the Federal University of Environment and Technology and appointing their indigenes to key federal positions.
Wike spoke on Wednesday at a Rainbow Coalition town hall meeting in Tai Local Government Area, where he described the institution as a catalyst for employment, economic growth and development.
He credited the late Senator Barry Mpigi with efforts to secure approval for the university, urging residents to appreciate its long-term benefits.
Wike also challenged political stakeholders in Tai to secure 70 per cent of votes cast for Tinubu and other Rainbow Coalition-backed candidates in the 2027 elections.
Earlier, Tai Council Chairman, Mbakpone Okpe, disclosed plans to develop an estate to accommodate students and visitors to the university.
Okpe said the council had also constructed the university’s entrance gate and an approximately one-kilometre dual carriageway within its premises.
He added that the council had set aside N100 million for the proposed incentive scheme and spent about N120 million monthly on an empowerment programme benefiting at least 3,400 people.
