The Obio/Akpor Local Government Council has dissolved all transport-related task forces, traffic decongestion committees and monitoring teams operating in the area.
The council chairman, Hon. Gift Worlu, said the move was aimed at reorganizing the transport sector and addressing complaints of harassment and intimidation by some task force personnel.
The dissolution also covers VIOs and other transport-related agencies operating under the council’s authority.
Worlu warned unauthorised persons popularly known as “Agberos” operating at strategic junctions to leave the LGA, stressing that their activities would no longer be tolerated.
He urged residents and commuters to remain calm, assuring them of the council’s commitment to maintaining peace and order.
