The Chairman, Niger Delta Media Forum(NDMF), Prince Gbasam has commended and presented an award to the Commander 6 Division Garrison/Commander Sector 3, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, Brigadier General Edet Effiong for his commitment in combating illegal oil bunkering in Rivers State. He gave the commendation, when he led members of the Association to 6 Division Garrison, Port Harcourt Barracks, where they presented an award to the Commander for his service to humanity.
Prince Gbasam added that the Association has been monitoring the activities of the Commander, right from when he took over command of 6 Division Garrison, stressing that he has achieved a lot in the fight against illegal oil bunkering in the state. This he said, is highly commendable and appreciated by the people of the state. He further said, this accounted for the huge operational successes recorded against illegal oil bunkering and associated crime in Rivers State. He urged, the Commander not to relent until all forms of economic sabotage are effectively curtailed.
Responding, the Commander 6 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Edet Effiong appreciated NDMF for finding him worthy of the award. He further added that, he received the award on behalf of the General Officer Commanding, 6 Division, Nigerian Army, himself and his team. He reiterated that the award is dedicated to officers and soldiers of 6 Division Garrison for their commitment in fighting economic sabotage and other sundry crimes in Rivers State.
Brigadier General Effiong said the award was an affirmation of hard work and dedication to duty by troops. This he further stressed that the reward for hard work is more work, therefore troops would redouble their efforts in anti illegal bunkering operations. He therefore, called on stakeholders to be more committed in ensuring that Rivers state remains peaceful for people to go about their normal business activities.
