The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has commenced a practical Artificial Intelligence (AI) training programme for young graduates and unemployed Niger Deltans in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The training, organised through the Commission’s Department of Information Technology and Innovation (IT&I), is aimed at equipping participants with digital skills to enhance their employment prospects, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Declaring the programme open on behalf of the NDDC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, Rev. Obegha Oworibo said the Commission remained committed to building the human capacity needed to drive sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.
The Director of IT&I, Engr. Emeka Ani, described the initiative as an investment in the future of the region, stressing the importance of equipping young people with relevant skills in emerging technologies.
Resource persons on the first day of the training, including Professor Oyenuga Adedeji and Stephanie Ufuoma Oghenene, took participants through practical applications of AI, digital innovation and emerging opportunities in the technology space.
The NDDC said the programme forms part of its broader efforts to empower young people with relevant skills, promote innovation and create sustainable economic opportunities across the Niger Delta.
