The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) says it will soon inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), following consultations with its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and other stakeholders.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, on September 21, the party said Obi and Kwankwaso had been given the freedom to nominate key campaign officials in consultation with the party leadership.
It explained that the campaign structure had been developed since August, adding that the inauguration, initially scheduled for the first week of September, was postponed due to Obi’s travel schedule.
The party said arrangements for campaign funding and fundraising were being finalised, with funds to be managed transparently in collaboration with the National Treasurer.
The NDC also urged its candidates and supporters to avoid internal disputes and focus on defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“There are no battles to fight within the NDC. The common opponent to defeat is the ruling APC,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the party has directed state and local government chairmen to meet with candidates and stakeholders to compile lists of party agents for the National Assembly, governorship and State Assembly elections.
It said the lists must be scrutinised and ratified by the party leadership before training begins, with the final submissions expected within two weeks.
