Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), says he will appeal the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordering the seizure of certain properties linked to him.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Assistant on Public Relations, Mohammed Bello Doka, Malami said although he respects the court’s decision, he disagrees with some aspects of the judgment and has directed his legal team to immediately file an appeal before the Court of Appeal.
The former AGF reiterated his commitment to the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary, stressing that the Federal High Court’s ruling was not the final determination of the matter.
He expressed confidence that the appellate court would thoroughly examine all legal issues and that justice would ultimately prevail.
Malami also urged the public and the media to avoid making premature conclusions while the legal process is still ongoing, noting that respect for due process remains a cornerstone of democracy.
He thanked the people of Kebbi State and Nigerians across the country for their prayers and support, assuring them that the legal challenge would not distract him from his commitment to public service or his vision for a peaceful, secure and prosperous Kebbi State.
The statement further appealed to his supporters to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding, while allowing the courts to perform their constitutional responsibilities.
