The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a final reminder to media organisations seeking accreditation to cover the forthcoming Ekiti State Governorship Election and a series of bye-elections scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026.
In a statement, the Commission announced that the accreditation portal will close at midnight on Sunday, June 7, 2026, stressing that no late applications will be entertained.
INEC urged media organisations that have already begun the accreditation process but are yet to complete their applications to do so before the deadline, warning that incomplete submissions will not be considered.
The Commission said the bye-elections will be held in Dawaki Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency (Kano State), Zuru State Constituency (Kebbi State), Ondo South Senatorial District (Ondo State), Rivers South East Senatorial District (Rivers State), Nasarawa North Senatorial District (Nasarawa State), and Enugu North Senatorial District (Enugu State).
According to INEC, the deadline represents the final opportunity for interested media organisations to secure accreditation for coverage of the elections.
The Commission emphasized that no exceptions will be made for late submissions and advised all affected organisations to complete the process before the portal closes on Sunday night.
