Rivers residents have called on government at all levels to come to their aid following the hike in petrol prices and the scarcity of petroleum products in the state.
Elanhub observed that a litre of fuel is now been sold at N500 and N600 at some fuel stations while it is been sold at N1000 and N1200 at the black market.
The development has caused long queues at filling stations in Port Harcourt and its environs as motorists battle to get the product.
A black marketeer in a chat with us Today said he bought fuel at N800 per litre this morning at a fuel station, and that virtually all fuel stations have shutdown.
He explained that he now sells a litre for N1000 and that residents have been buying the product as they have no choice.
Also, the development has affected the cost of transportation as prices have doubled. A place that used to be N150 is now N300.
Our correspondent who visited various parks said they are almost empty.
A motorist at one of the parks said a lot of persons that travelled are finding it difficult to return due to the hike in transport fare.
