A woman identified as Cynthia Nwali and her three children have escaped death as their house was gutted by fire on Saturday night.
The woman in a chat with us, said the incident occurred in Rumuparali in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State on Saturday at about 12:00am.
She said her husband’s friend visited them that night, and decided to pass the night as he was about travelling the following day being Sunday.
According to Mrs. Nwali, her husband had called and informed her of the friends visit, adding that the husband was out of town.
The woman explained that in the middle of the night she heard neighbors knocking on the door while screaming her name to wake up.
Mrs. Nwali said by the time she stood up, the house was seriously on fire and she immediately woke her three children up as they escaped through the back door, after they could not access the main door.
She noted that all her properties were lost in the fire
“…at 12 midnight I hear gbim gbim gbim for my door, ‘madam Bright’ ‘madam Bright open’ before I open eye, fire don full everywhere. The whole house done burn… I carry my three children and try to open the door, no way. I come use backyard door run commit from the house,” she said.
