Human rights activist and legal practitioner, Chetam Nwala has described Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as the “worst governor” in the history of the state.
Nwala made the assertion while reacting to the governor’s visit to Opobo on Sunday, where Fubara attended the thanksgiving service of Senator Adawari Pepple.
He described Fubara’s movement around Opobo on foot as a “walk of shame”, alleging that the governor’s visit was an attempt to demonstrate his connection with the people after receiving backlash over his absence from the historic coronation.
“What Gov. Sim did in Opobo yesterday was a WALK OF SHAME. After getting a serious backlash on missing out on the historic coronation, he visited Opobo for the thanksgiving of Sen. Adawari Pepple and started moving round Opobo on foot to show he is in tune with his people,” Nwala said.
The activist further accused some politicians of displaying loyalty only while their associates remain in power, saying their true positions often become evident when political influence wanes.
“One thing I love about hypocrites, they will tolerate you while you still have power, the moment power leaves you, they will show their true colours. That was exactly what played out yesterday,” he said.
Nwala also alleged that the state was being poorly governed, claiming that Fubara was “just occupying space and doing nothing.”
“He will go down in history as the worst Governor in the history of Rivers State. Wike made this possible and Sim fell for it. Rivers State is like a State without a Governor. Sim is just occupying space and doing nothing,” he added.
The activist also questioned the implementation of the Rivers State Government’s reported ₦200,000 cash assistance to identified flood victims, asking who had received the funds.
“Meanwhile, the 200k to flood victims, who are the people the Rivers State Government gave the money to? Deputy Governor Ma, this one is under your watch and the news we are hearing if it is true then we may need to scrutinise your office,” he said.
